I’ve got a 2016 3 Pedal making this sound. Noticed a super loud bang while going from 2nd to 1st gear on a Hill Climb. Got to the top and heard that noise.
Automotive tire Tread Rim Automotive wheel system Bicycle part

Got the trans out, didn’t see anything much except for decently rounded first gear dogs, and very minimal markings on the shift forks. But I’ve never had any problems with the trans till the bang. It doesn’t come out of gear, it doesn’t slip, it’s not hard to shift into gear, it has no symptoms of rounded dogs. Just the ticking noise. Talked to a shop mechanic, and he said the number one cause of this noise is usually the shift forks. Although they did not look bent, he said sometimes you can’t notice it, so I bought all three shift forks, and reinstalled the transmission. Still makes the same noise. I am aware that there are multiple threads on here for this exact same issue, but it is not stated whether the issue has been resolved from the main shaft replacement or something else. Looking for some advice, or if the main shaft replacement has worked for anyone else. It is also worth mentioning that it is only in first gear. Any other gear there is no noise at all. I assume an issue with first gear dogs but they look fine. Little stumped on this one. It must be the dogs.

Well they don’t look “fine” but I didn’t think they were bad enough to be causing my issue because I have no other symptoms of rounded dogs.

More than bad enough to cause what is happening. Replace the gears and your problem will go away. What you are describing is exactly what bad drive dogs sound like. You don't feel a slip because it just jumps to the next dog and hammers into place
