I have s 17ss with a Dirtlaunch intake and tuning....graves exhaust and gytr cams....as much as I want I cant swing a turbo kit and not interested in a supercharger.....anyone done any head work with similar set up as mine??...port and polish and still run 91 oct?....was it worth it and noticeable?.....I could tell the huge diff with the cams as they were my last upgrade and my buddy has my same set up in a 18 minus cams and I walk away from him in every gear like he has an anchor....lol......thanks in advance

I know on cars when using a MLS gasket, they want a very smooth finish, almost mirror like on the head and block.
Interesting. BTW, I'm jealous you found a head so cheap. I've been looking forever. I'm going to do a DIY port if I can get another head cheap enough that I don't worry about ruining it.

I know it looks almost like a sand blasted finish but it's as smooth as glass, you can rake your fingernail across it and you can't feel a thing, feels like your scratching glass.
I'm sure you could use any gasket you wanted to without any problems, Charlie was recommended to do my head work by three different people in the industry, and he preps all the heads for a top tier Pro race team running YXZ's, so I'm very confident in his work.

Buck I was very suspicious about the lowball price myself, but figured what the heck. I got to admit I was very surprised about being the first one to open the OEM box, and even more shocked to see the valve seats, guides and exhaust studs installed, HOME-RUN. I'll keep a eye out for you brother and hit you with a PM if I find a deal on another one, new or used.

I'm keeping the same valves & springs. I don't know for certain if Dasa is behind the GYTR head.
How do you like the porting on the head? Is it worth the money... this is my next step. Thanks

I did a handful of mods with ported head in one shot. Alba Airbox spacer, GYTR air filters, GYTR Cam, and GYTR air stacks. Definitely felt a difference and was content.

Dasa pricing is great. If you shop around holidays thru out the year, you can catch their 20% off sales. Only downside is you’ll incur additional cost to custom tune. I used a Bazzaz tuner on top of a full Graves flash I already had.

To answer your question. I started playing in the sand and went turbo. Otherwise I’d say it’s good route for staying all motor and where duning is not the priority.

It's a soda blast finish. He also did work in the combustion chamber.
So what was the outcome... is the machine faster with the head work?
