Miles

Nobody wants to touch a side by side that has more than 1k miles. People think anything over that the machine is an absolute POS and worth nothing but a row boat, crossbow and pack of beer.. why is this? When people purchase a dirtbike or atv nobody asks about miles or hours they buy the machine for whatever price may be.. trying to sell mine on the marketplace with almost 6k miles and nobody wants to touch it with a 10ft pole 😂

I always like new vehicles and had a very hard time buying our jeep with 46k. And for the price of so many used utv’s with low miles it’s hard to find a buyer for a fair price. Why we decided our yxz is a permanent family member.
I guess in my case I just feel robbed, I should have did more research on utvs and about how people really care about the miles on them. I traded my really nice 1979 Chevy k10 I had 18k in for mine, a mint pw80 and a little bit of money. Figured I could sell the utv faster then the squarebody but I was mistakenly wrong..

I put 1000 miles within half a year. I think most people with children moved on from the YXZ platform because of 4 seater or they have bought in addition to the YXZ.... Or just plainly moved on.

If it's a 2019 or earlier, it not being boost ready can play a factor for those who care 5psi vs 8psi+ ... Plus the major differences Yamaha had changed.

Definitely harder to sell the first gen YXZs. Considering you can get them new for $13k-$15k + fees.

YXZ are the banshees of the SXS.

Few vehicles hold their value... as you well know. Side by sides are an extreme of that mantra. No matter how well you take care of it, nobody wants a high mileage side by side. Mine have 15k on one and 13k on the other. I would be surprised if I could sell them for 5K each. A dealer wouldn't even want them. I intend to run them into the ground and then some....:)

I once was selling a meticulously kept ZX-14 with 18K easy miles and more than one caller said i was asking too much and the engine was likely "worn out" without even coming to see it in person. My notion is that many looking to buy these machines also abuse the living krap out of them with great zest. And so their assumption is that everyone else also does so 10K miles engine is trash, frame is tweaked, shocks worn out, etc.

IMO These modern machines can do 100K+ when taken care of properly by an adult. If youre a buyer and know what to look for a creampuff can always be had on the cheap :)

Almost 10k on the YXZ and 2500 miles on the KRX already. These two will stay around til they need rebuild.

Couldn’t agree more. And in a good way.

Geez! So basically I have to take it in the ass and sell it dirt cheap or keep it forever and buy more land to ride it!

On the YXZ addicts pages Facebook you see barbones YXZs go for $8k-$12k with extras lol... yep. There's one listed right now for $9k.

I would pick it up but I'm looking for another barebones 2017 SS yxz for the Ms, and that one was 3 pedal...

Mhm so rlly what I am asking is decent I guess if he wants 9k for a 2016 model with 1,000 more miles and less add ons than mine.
Geographic location plays a big part in it too. Western US seems to carry higher re-sale more so than eastern areas.
Too many people buy these and use them a couple of times and then they sit for a couple of years before they resell. Floods the market with low mile ones so you're gonna have to be priced well below them for a sale. Here on the west coast I've never seen one for sale no matter the miles for under 12k. And yes too many kids buying them and "using them for what they were meant for" gives everyone the impression that all owners just thrash them.
Guess we all take something different from the used ads.

Soon as I saw "dealer replaced roll cage" I immediately thought "I don't want to get involved in a used rollover, even 9k is too much for a "tweaked frame or damaged front clip"

Especially since we are still seeing a flood of YXZ's bought in 2020-2022 (aka pandemic money) where some thought they'd get more / better use.

This is almost a perfect example. 2022 Yamaha YXZ 1000 XTR - 20,000 OBO

Drove 65 miles before deciding that there weren't any usable / fun trails to ride. WTF... really? I think we had 65 miles just getting it off the trailer and into the garage. Had probably 1000 miles before deciding what kinds of trails we liked.
