So...if equal length headers are optimal, then why did RPM use the mini unequal length header? Did they sacrifice the effectiveness of equal length for super short?
Thanks guys,
There is a noticeable difference in the seat of the paints feeling . Not much lag at all now . With the stock header , from 4 to 6 grand it was terrible .
I got my header done today,Thanks to Michigan Mad Mans photos ,It works great with the MPI Turbo, they should start producing them, great combo with the turbo, had mine jet hot coated black to keep it stealthy
Have a fab shop build one like Michigan Mad Mans,he posted great pictures to go by, and then I built one like his and it works great, and you will love it
Well, there is no boost thru the header really. Even if a little bit of leakage did occur, i highly doubt it would matter. Ever felt how much exhaust flow there is out the muffler? I will wait for one like Michigan Mad Mans.
Do either of you that have do this remember what size, radius and quantity of U bends that you bought to do this? I trying to get all my supplies gathered so I can mod my yxz from day 1.
It's called drive pressure. Yes, if it leaks on the exhaust side, you will lose boost. Now in that case of the Graves style header. Once it's up to temp, the collector is sealed good. Now would I run that header on a Boosted application? No. I like smaller primaries without steps for uping the drive pressure. I think what mad man has should work pretty good.
I did mine with a couple 1.375 stainless u bends I chopped up from jegs and used the rest of the original header cut up,i think that's what Michigan mad man used to,i just kinda copied his,i had mine jet hot coated black so its real stealthy, amazing what it did,it will be interesting what MPI and Trinity will come up with
ive learned years ago when doing product development, making changes to a design without a good baseline is pointless.it looks cool & makes sense in theory, but if your not posting before,& after results off a dyno with a stock baseline.you could be leading people down the wrong path.
