The SS does have a ignition interrupter that kills the engine for a split second when shifted, so best to just keep it mashed. It is also by nature a noisy clunky tranny set up so don't let that bother you. You can get the MCU reflashed with the 19+ tune that will make it shift a lot faster too. If/when you dive into the clutch I would recommend staying with OEM clutches, they work great and the SS can act pretty funny sometimes with aftermarket and so-called HD clutch kits. A very important upgrade, almost a must have, is the Tubeworks clutch hub oil mod, this will really go a long way for you and really save a clutch.
