Pinion Bearing Failure

I lost the pinion bearing on rear diff. and by the looks of the fluid and marks, pieces of it made its way through the rest. It did not crack the housing but bearing is toast. I'm waiting on spline socket to further inspect. Between the metal shavings in fluid and the extra stress put on the needle bearing the pinion shaft rides in, I'm thinking this should also be replaced and curious if anyone has tackled this and if there were any tricks. After I open it up, I'm thinking light heat and tapping it out? After al said and done, I will install the Hess billet support along with HD coupler and most likely the female coupler too. Any tips/tricks is appreciated.

Throw it in the trash and get a new rear diff. Job done. Once they lunch the bearing, the ring and pinion gears are done......
Yeah, you are right. The gears didn't look bad but we all know they're not good....for a few hundred more big ones, it's not worth it. Supposedly there's an updated casting to where the billet bearing housing isn't as critical so I think I'll just stick with the HD coupler as an upgrade when it's all apart. Any other suggestions?
Make sure you get the grease boot with the HD coupler. It will hold grease much better and prolong the life of that interface indefinitely....

Got it. Should all be here tomorrow. EP grease, boot, new clips. I wish I knew what exactly caused bearing failure but there have been a few redline clutch dumps with the paddles on recently. We do also ride in some extreme cold conditions when there’s nothing else to do in the boring northern Indiana winters.
Its a very high preload bearing. I think it is just inevitable and can happen quickly with little warning. Toss in coupler failure transmitting additional shocks or a failed shock absorber on the end of the driveshaft and all that can do is accelerate it. I replaced one in my guest machine diff when I was redoing the transmission because I could feel the bearing getting a bit notchy. We shall see how long it lasts.... about 500 miles so far.
Oh yes. The rubber dampener was smoked also. Coupler surprisingly doesn’t look bad. Only about 2600 miles on machine. You have any experience/thoughts on the HD rubber bushing from Hess Motorsports? Don’t really want to throw OEM back in if it’s going to fail that easily

Unaware of any Hess offering for the rubber dampener.

While you are replacing the diff get rid of the crapy YXZ drive shaft and install this Driveline Kit – Avenger Motorsports
Ok guys I got my tranny out and tore down,,if some of you guys don't know what I'm doing here it's goes,,I had I knock in my tranny and it sounded like it was coming from the front part where the driveshaft plants itself in the tranny,,so all the gears look good from what I see I have inspected it 5 times to make sure I don't see anything wrong but I did have metal shavings in casing can you guys help or any idea what I should replace

the suck also in my nopinion the only way to fix the driveshaft beatingb the shit out of the rear diff is get the avenger driveshaft. thats what i had to do after my rear diff was beyond repair. boght the hess pinion and rubber whatever it is, still had to buy a brandnew rear diff. now i have no problems at all with a 100% stock rear diff and avenger driveshaft just my 2 cents
