Spare tire carrier ?

Just bought 2016 yxz also brought home from dealer a Yamaha storage box and spare tire carrier. I like the storage box but am have second thoughts on the tire carrier because of the weight 42 pounds by it self and hanging off the rear . I see there are roll bar mounted tire carriers that mount over the bed but will be up higher but are a little lighter . What are your thoughts on the effects of handling between the two?

I thought about the same thing until I went to the sand show and saw a handful of YXZ's with the spare tire strapped in vertically in the bed. This left plenty of room for a cooler or toolbox on the other side of the vertical spare. They basically strapped around the tire from the cage to the rear bumper.

I like having it, the extra weight helps on the back of the car! With all the junk in the trunk plus the tire I would guess I have a extra 120lbs. If you have stock suspension, you may like it.

I10 fwy yes the suspension is stock and if i re valve and re spring what would the difference be ? Also what size are your rims and tires?

Company called KSH in Havasu makes a bad ass one for the poopoo that I'm sure would work in the YXZ. Aluminum construction and has all the mounts for a 30" tire on the lid. It's Nice piece and pretty llightweight

I liked side mount so made my own version that removed easier. With extra fuel.

The side mounts are cool but i already bought yamaha storage box so i decided to use the swing away spare carrier

thanks bud. Figure it out. Removed the whole plastic instead of cutting it.
