What Gear Do You Wear?

Looking through the owner's manual, it says you should wear full MX type gear.

I just bought a new helmet but am wearing jeans, t-shirt and work boots. I don't see the need for MX gear. What do you guys wear?

Same as you with long sleeve jersey over top for cactus/sun protection. No need for more.
Not sure about gear to wear but i surely wear out 5th gear a lot out here 🤣🤣

We're right there. Jeans, tee's and boots. Also added full face helmets, mostly because I don't have a real good dental plan.

Only exceptions are I wear boots with "spike" protection for stepping over a winch cable.

And I keep a good pair of gloves for handling a steel cable.

That’s just a c.y.a. For Yamaha. Just like the recommended age for atv riders. They’re trying to avoid being sued by a moron with more money than brains.

For gear, that depends on the weather. I always wear a helmet for safety, and our coms. I wear regular tennis shoes, shorts and a t-shirt when it’s hot out. When it gets cold I go to jeans and a hoodie, add in a coat, gloves, and insulated mx pants when it gets real cold. Goggles or sunglasses also weather dependent.

I like to be comfortable when I ride.
Same here. I wear a dirt bike style helmet, safety glasses, gloves, workbooks, jeans and whatever shirt / jacket for the temperature. I think the helmet is the big one for safety. Your head can still hit the cage or the ground if you roll, and even though the wife says I have a hard head, I can't afford to many more hits to it!

Thanks for all the replies. I guess I'm good with what I'm doing then.

The helmet I have is a modular street bike helmet. I noticed most guys use dirt bike type helmets with goggles. Any reason why a dirt bike helmet would be better? Mine has the clear shield plus it has a flip down dark shield too which is nice.

I have a windshield so not worried about getting hit in the face with rocks.
99% of the time im in shorts and a t-shirt maybe a sweatshirt and no shoes (if in the dunes). i have flip flops in a box to wear if its warm
dirt or rock crawling its just tennis shoes, maybe boots if theres snow on the ground.
full face helmet with comms though. mx helmet is not the way to go IMO
I wear shorts t shirt and I got flip flops in the floor board for when we stop on pointy gravel
Scorpion Exo modular adventure helmet with a headset installed. Light, long sleeved jersey, glooves, long pants, and light hiking boots. If it's cold, I add a jacket.
Actual attire, well that would be according to weather. Jeans, shorts, sometimes shorts and flip flops, long sleeve t-shirts as much as possible after skin spots cut out. Gloves and eye wear with full windshield and a solid roll cage. Good life and vehicle insurance so that is about it and go out and live it. Live to ride, ride to live.

Ha, ha. I'm hoping to wear out all the gears. 😁

Thanks for all the replies. I just didn't see the need for full MX stuff and will just dress according to the weather. I put a windshield on it and will be getting a full enclosure fore next winter but may try out a snowmobile type suit.

It gets hot here in the summer. It would be kind of cool (literally) to retrofit an A/C system! That'd be a lot of fab work though. I guess if it gets too hot I'll just take my Jeep.

I wear the mx jersey and pants, but depending on what we're doing high top converse or boots. I found the motorcycle helmet to be too big and bulky, so we went with bump helmets about a year ago. Much lighter still have Bluetooth intercom and cooler

That’s it, just wear what is comfortable for the ride and conditions. No helmets, lots of shorts and flip flops in hot weather. I try to wear long sleeve shirts due to multiple skin cancer spots probably from all of our river days, so plenty of sunscreen when needed. Now lets all get out and ride!!!!!
I agree @VonTriple, bump.helmet is perfect.

I wore bump helmets "professionally" (LOL) back in the day. Would love to go back to that. Just not going back to the Task Force.... that was like real work.... Fun, but, yeah, too much FUN.

My big fear is my teeth. That is the only reason I wear a full face. If I could find a bump helmet with lower jaw protection I would be all over it!

Guess maybe I should get a better dental plan and go with bump helmets.... ROFLMAO

Nate
My full face has saved me too many times from brush and cactus.... no way I go with something that minimal.

MX helmet and jersey. Casual rides sometimes a tank top and sunscreen. MX helmet has saved my ass more than once
