Ok haven’t rode this since back in the summer. 2018 1000rr. Went to go fire it up with a new battery and this is what happens. Soon as u go turn key on everything lights up normal on display but when u go to crank it over the display goes blank. And don’t even crank. After letting the key go the display lights back up. Anyone know what could be causing this. Thanks

Sounds like your “new” battery needs charged.

I know you said it is a new battery. I had the same problem and it turned out to be a bad battery.

I tried that. Took the battery out of my car and rigged it up. still same issue

I thought about that also so I even used my heavy duty jump pack still nothin. Same results

What does the battery voltage drop to when you turn the key to start? Maybe some mice had a nice meal on some wiring....

I’ll have to check that out when I get home. I looked at every wire that’s visible nothin chewed or broken from rodents

The display readout looks a little weird before you turn the key to start. I don't have an SS, but will it start in fourth gear?

It sounds like you have a power/ground issue. On the new battery make sure the posts have clean lead where the cables attach. Try removing the cables and using a wire brush on the spot where the cables attach. Also, use it on the cables. I put a brand-new battery in a pick-up I used to own and it started up I drove it to the gas station and it wouldn't start, it turned out to be scale on the new battery post that wouldn't allow good contact. I cleaned the post and all was well. Also, make sure the ground cable is tight and clean at the frame.
