It sounds like you have a power/ground issue. On the new battery make sure the posts have clean lead where the cables attach. Try removing the cables and using a wire brush on the spot where the cables attach. Also, use it on the cables. I put a brand-new battery in a pick-up I used to own and it started up I drove it to the gas station and it wouldn't start, it turned out to be scale on the new battery post that wouldn't allow good contact. I cleaned the post and all was well. Also, make sure the ground cable is tight and clean at the frame.
