The switch has 3 positions. 2wd, 4wd, 4wd lock. So to me the 4wd may include 1 front wheel and the 4wd lock will include both front wheels.

Does this meen the front and rear are both normally an open diff. and lock mode locks both of them?

Rear is locked always on yamaha.
