Chances are Yamaha is going to burst onto the scene with a true sport SXS that is geared for desert terrain and high performance driving. With that said, anyone considering buying the YXZ to be a mud machine? I could see the appeal of slinging mud while listening to the sweet howl of an 11,000 rpm motor

I'm not really worried about fenders. They don't do a whole lot when hitting a mud hole hard. Stuff just splashes everywhere. Only thing that would help is a full enclosure.

Im not a "mud fanatic" like some but I do encounter it on most every ride. I think its pretty fun most times and even if the YXZ ends up being wildcatish in its front bodywork or lack thereof...I will certainly have a smile on my face when me, YXZ and ol sloppy stuff meet up.. Like its been said fenders arent really that much help when your wheels are way out there anyway! And if a little dirt and mud bothers someone that much, maybe they should consider buying a smart car instead of a SxS.

I think that new tranny may be a keeper for you mud guys. A lot better than a CVT.

Wouldn't it be a kick if it had some way to do a quick change final gear ratio. Run some 35inch mudders and have it geared for them

A quick change would be super cool, but they would also have to offer it for the front diff as well.

Was thinking more of the divorced transmission and having a quick swap final gear change on the output shaft. Would drive both diff's.
