Just went ahead and bought an RC2 dry filter. We'll see how it does. Should be great based on some of the reviews. Kinda tired of the messy oiled filters.
Let us know how you like it. It worked phenomenally in my last RZR. It was so easy to clean, that I found myself cleaning it more frequently. Just pull the filter out, tap it on the ground and gobs of dirt comes out. Every now and then, I'd carefully use compressed air from the inside-out. If it works for you and others, I'll be ditching the foamie soon as well.

Yes, will report how it does. All I want to see is NO dusting inside the box, and things will be golden! :)

I will also be ordering that filter. There is seriously no way to know if you leave too little or too much oil in a soak filter. They should have gone away with the oil bath filters on cars back in the early 70s.

Yamalube biodegradable air filter oil and cleaner. It says on the bottle formulated by notoil. Very tacky oil, gets messy very quickly. My filter was a little over saturated (good bit of residue in the bottom of the filter box) I could not beleive how quickly and easily the filter came clean in the cleaning solution. Followed instructions, filled sink (didn't have hot water), added powder, agitated to dissolve powder then I dunked the filter. As soon as it went in the water you could see the water start to turn green from the filter oil. A couple minutes of squeezing around in the sink, run it under fresh water, squeeze it out and let it dry.
Not my first time cleaning an air filter and it was very surprising how easily it came clean with the yamalube cleaning solution.

I tried using NoToil cleaner powder and it would not touch this stuff. Soap did way better.

Just purchased this R2C filter for my YXZ. Will report in a week or so on how I like it...
The part # is OR10531
I paid $74 including shipping from Kombustion Motorsports.
I will keep the stock foamie filter and install it for any warranty work, as I am not sure if Yamaha would balk at me using a different filter.
Sometimes warranty companies (Y.E.S) look for any excuse not to cover issues.

My RC2 made it and it looks like a paper air filter…it's hard to believe you can wash it.

They're very confident in the product tho because there are directions to remove the secondary filter if you want to. A member here made mention of taking it out and I'm like why the hell would you do that but it apparently wasn't his idea. I'm going to take mine out seeing as it's a B to get to…pretty cool and thought I'd share.

in the process of changing my secondary, has to be the stupidest design Ive seen yet.
Being it only needs changed every 1200 miles and seems to be easily accessed from the oil tank side with only 11 fasteners can it really be that bad? Have not changed mine yet, have another 900 miles to go.

yes its that bad. I tried to get it without pulling the bed but failed. My GYTR filter seems to work very well and I may just leave the secondary out.

how do they have you remove secondary? the filter edge is part of the sealing for the boxes. Im in process of taking mine out now and thinking im going to cut the paper out and reinstall the ring

They specifically say: reinstall lid onto the stock air box, aligning the lid to seal against the air box housing.

I tried to post a pic of the directions but it requires a tapatalk ID. Didn't need that before will sign up and post the pic.

Thanks, still taking mine apart , the mx manual shows an oring on each side of the stock filter, wonder how they do it. My stock paper filter is spotless after 600 miles of nasty dust out here, just put a Dasa exhaust on with controller, thinking removal of this filter will let her breath a bit better but will have to stay on top of canister changes if I do it.

Got that sucker out, what a pain. Both boxes mostly clean but found superfine dust in the secondary box on the primary air side yet the clean side was pristene. Looked all over and cannot see where it came in and the primary box clean side is spotless. This lead me the seals on the box halves themselves. The book calls out two seals between the boxes on each side of the secondary filter, mine has no seals or even a place to put them. The book also does not list these seals in the parts legend on the page. The stock secondary filter frame is hard plastic and does not seal to the airboxes, I think this is where it came in. The new Yamaha GYTR filer frame is rubber and much thicker than the original, it now seals the two boxes together. Im leaving the GYTR filter in place. I also had a little fine dust where the intake manifold meets the three rubber boots on the airbox. The boots are bone dry stock, I used some intake grease to help seal those up. Not sure at this point if I would run without the secondary, maybe you can verify my findings when you get around to taking yours apart? The GYTR filter looks much more substantial and easier breathing than the stock one, it also gets rid of the back-flash screen which should help a little.

Wow man as they say better safe than sorry…I'll see if mine seals differently but it doesn't sound like taking it out is wise. Thanks for the info and pics.
