Sequentially shifted trans doesn't need a clutch to shift.

I saw a post that referenced reaching down in a foot of water to push in the clutch to shift. I have seen a few others that seem to think you clutch each shift.

On a sequential trans they are dog boxes and not synchro mesh. You use the clutch to start and stop, but it is not required to shift up or down using the clutch. You catch each shift as the gear is unloaded with a blip of the throttle. It takes about a day to get good at it and then you will like it better than synchro mesh.

Most all high end sand car transmissions are this way. In the sand car they can be "H" pattern or sequential but all sequential are dog boxes. Tim

Seems to me, if I were planning to let other, less experienced people drive my new YXZ on occasion, the Rekluse would be a really nice thing to have. If they came to a stop and forgot to push that ol' clutch peddle, the motor wouldn't stall out. I think it would come in handy for rock crawling or any other slow speed riding.

I've always wondered why no one offered a manual trans sxs before...I think all sport ATV's are manual (except the Renegade, but it's a hybrid sport/utility type) and it's always kind of made sense to me. Figured the reason had to be the shifting part.

Don't know if that was a legitimate reason it's not been seen until now or not?

I think the manual shifter is going to be a big hit. I've got a sand rail with a cbr 1000 in it. It's the same shift pattern (minus reverse). I love it, way more fun to drive than my rzr. With the Rekluse clutch, it should be pretty much dummy proof. No stalls, easy take off, clutchless shifts, best of all worlds. Man I can't wait to try one out.

I've mentioned the Rekluse clutch to everyone that I've talked to that has complained about the manual transmission and they look at me like I'm crazy. After telling them that it won't be necessary to use the foot clutch, they then say that having to move the shift lever to change gears is to difficult. Man, folks have gotten spoiled.

Here is the OFFICIAL word on it.

"It does not "need" the clutch. It is just like a sport atv or motorcycle manual transmission. If you back of the throttle and unload the transmission it is possible to upshift. This is much more difficult to do when trying to downshift. If timed properly it is possible but not recommended. Just like a sport atv or motorcycle."

Sounds like what I said........

Even the down shift can be done simply by blipping the throttle and catching the gears before they back lash. If you are experiencing engine braking then it wont down shift.

On my sand car it has become second nature.

This trans will be loved by some and hated by others. Dog box is what most racers prefer for the quick shifts. You can still use the clutch if you want to. Tim
